Once you have completed all modules you will need to complete a final assessment whereupon completion, you will be awarded a First Aid Appointed Person Certificate to verify that your business is complying with its legal obligations and requirements.

For employers who have conducted a first aid needs assessment in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines and discovered a First Aider is not needed, will need to have an appointed person in charge of first aid arrangements on the premises.

With this course, employees will gain an understanding of the basic principles of first aid and the core responsibilities they have as a first aid appointed person. On completion of this course, learners will be aware of exactly what a first aid box should contain, what to do in an emergency, and how best to describe and report on any incidents that may occur.

First aid plays a vital role in the workplace in forming an effective health and safety management system, therefore it is a legal requirement to have an appointed person who is fully trained to be able to carry out first aid in the event of an accident or emergency.

Any individuals appointed to first aid duties must be aware of their responsibilities and must always be available whenever people are at work. Training will be required so that they understand exactly what they are authorised to do, when to safely intervene to apply the principles of first aid, and when to contact the emergency services.
